What Are Service Credits
Service Credits are the Haven for Healing Exchange Network's internal, non-cash unit of account used to recognize and facilitate voluntary exchanges between members. One (1) Service Credit is considered one unit within the Exchange Network and is used solely to record the value of services, skills, time, resources, or approved goods exchanged through the network.
Service Credits create a structure for a more sustainable future by expanding access to the resources, services, and goods people need through community collaboration rather than relying solely on money.
Service Credits are not: cash, currency, legal tender, wages, compensation, salary, commissions, dividends, securities, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any other form of monetary payment. They have no cash value, cannot be purchased, sold, redeemed for money, exchanged for cash, transferred outside the Exchange Network, or used as a financial investment. Service Credits exist only within the Exchange Network and may be used only in accordance with the organization's policies and program guidelines.
Hybrid Exchange Option
Some services may be offered using the Hybrid Exchange Option, which combines Service Credits with a discounted cash payment. This option is typically available for services that involve significant out-of-pocket expenses, specialized materials, travel, or licensed professional expertise. Members and participating businesses mutually agree on the Service Credit portion and any discounted cash amount before the exchange begins, helping make valuable services more accessible while recognizing actual costs that cannot reasonably be covered by Service Credits alone.
Participation in the Exchange Network is entirely voluntary. Members choose whether to offer or receive services and are not employees, independent contractors, agents, or representatives of Haven for Healing Exchange Network or of one another solely by participating in the exchange of Service Credits. Members are responsible for determining the services they wish to offer, the exchanges they wish to participate in, and the terms of those exchanges consistent with Exchange Network policies.
Service Credits are intended to encourage reciprocity, strengthen community relationships, expand access to resources, and recognize the value of every person's contributions. They are designed as a community exchange tool that promotes mutual support rather than financial gain or profit.
The Exchange Network does not represent or guarantee that Service Credits are exempt from taxation or regulatory requirements in every jurisdiction or circumstance. Members are responsible for complying with applicable federal, state, local, and international laws and should consult a qualified tax or legal professional if they have questions regarding their individual obligations.
Service Credits are governed exclusively by the Exchange Network's policies, including rules regarding earning, transferring, expiration, extensions, donations to the Community Credit Pool, and other program requirements established by Haven for Healing Exchange Network.
Haven for Healing Exchange Network is a community platform that facilitates voluntary member connections and Service Credit exchanges. We do not supervise, guarantee, or assume liability for member-to-member agreements, services, goods, or exchange outcomes.
