Negative Credit Balance
Members may have a credit balance as low as -10 Service Credits but not exceed this limit.
If a member’s balance is negative, they may continue participating in the network with the understanding that they will offer services to earn credits until their balance returns to a positive amount.
Members may remain in a negative balance for a period of twelve (12) months while actively contributing and rebuilding their credits. If the balance remains in the negative for beyond 12 months, the account will be deactivated. Member may reinstate participation in the network but will open an account with a zero (0) credit. Member will not earn credits for rejoining the network. The member will be reinstated as a "provisional member" until credits are earned.
During this time, because no credits are available for transfer, the member is responsible for the $4 Shared Contribution per exchange despite of not having credits. The shared contribution helps to facilitate the credit transfer to the receiving member and maintain operations and infrastructure of the network.
Participation under these conditions reflects the members’ agreement to:
Continue contributing to the network
Restore their balance through service
Support fair and balanced exchanges
Maintain integrity and resect while participating in the network
The credit tier valuation helps ensure sustainability, fairness, and continued access for all members. The structure is designed to support sustainability, consistency, and clarity across Haven for Healing Exchange Network. By offering a standardized framework, the network creates a shared understanding of how contributions are valued, whether through time, skill, preparation, or resources. This structure helps prevent confusion, reduces imbalance, and allows members to engage with confidence, knowing there is a fair and thoughtful system guiding exchanges. It also ensures that the network can grow in a stable and organized way while maintaining integrity across all levels of participation.
At the same time, the structure is not meant to limit personal choice or autonomy. Members are encouraged to make decisions that feel aligned, fair, and true to them within each exchange. The tiered system serves as a guide rather than a rigid rule, allowing flexibility and human connection to remain at the center of every interaction. This balance between structure and personal discernment helps preserve both accountability and the relational nature of the network, where trust and mutual respect are essential.
It is also important to understand that credits are not a reflection of monetary value. Because of this, they may not always appear “equal” when compared to money-based systems. However, within the context of the exchange network, credits are designed to reflect contribution, access, and reciprocity and not market pricing. What may seem unequal in a monetary sense is balanced within the credit system through shared participation and mutual benefit. Over time, this creates a different kind of fairness, one rooted in contribution, community, and the recognition that value extends beyond money.
