Purpose of Haven for Healing “Exchange Network”

The Exchange Network exists to foster mutual aid, community connection, and equitable access to services through a non-monetary service credit exchange system. The Exchange Network is grounded in principles of dignity, fairness, transparency, honesty, respect and shared responsibility.

Membership Eligibility & Participation

Membership is open to individuals who 18 years or older nd agree to participate in good faith, offer and/or receive services aligned with the Network’s mission and values, and comply with all Network policies, conditions and guidelines. Membership does not guarantee access to specific services or providers.

Nature of Service Credits

Service credits are a non-monetary unit of exchange used exclusively within the Exchange Network. Service credits are not currency, cash, or cash equivalent and have no monetary value outside the Exchange Network. Service credits are not wages, compensation, or barter income paid by Haven for Healing Exchange Network, it is simply a structured way of recognizing contribution. Participation does not create an employment, contractor, partnership, or agency relationship. Membership contributions are voluntary contributions.

Earning & Using Service Credits

Members may earn service credits by providing legal services to other Members. Service credits may be redeemed only for services offered by participating Members within the network and may not be sold, transferred outside the Network, or exchanged for money.

Non-Hourly Services & Credit Proposals

When a service is not reasonably measured on a time- basis, align within a credit tier or hybrid option, and cannot be agreed to between exchanging members, the Member providing the service may submit a Non-Hourly Service Credit Proposal including a description of the service, proposed number of credits, service start date, and expected end date. Some services may be ongoing. Network coordinators or credit coordinators will review the proposal and may approve or counter-propose the credit amount or hybrid option. No credits are finalized unless the Member agrees to it.

Service Completion & Credit Issuance

Services begin on the approved start date and are completed on or before the expected end date unless ongoing. Upon completion or agreed milestones, service credits are issued to the provider and subtracted from the receiver’s account when the service is completed or milestones met with incremental credit transfers.

Service Credit Expiration

Service credits expire twenty-four (24) months from the date earned. Expiration is automatic unless the member files a Credit Extension Form and an exception is granted by the Board. Expired credits have no residual value and recirculate back into the Network into the Community Credit Pool.

Donations of Services, Goods, or Materials

Haven for Healing Exchange Network may accept voluntary donations of services, goods, or materials. When a Member designates a contribution as a donation, the Member acknowledges and agrees that no service credits shall be issued in exchange for the donated service, goods, or materials. Donations are voluntary, non-reciprocal, and provided without expectation of service credits, benefits, or exchange within the Network.

Members may choose to make voluntary cash, goods or property donations to support the operations, programs, and sustainability of the network. The Network will provide the member with a written donation acknowledgment (donation receipt) for their records.

This acknowledgment is intended to support the member in consulting with their tax professional, financial advisor, or accountant regarding potential eligibility for a charitable contribution deduction in accordance with applicable federal and state tax laws. Haven for Healing Exchange Network is organized as a nonprofit entity and will issue documentation consistent with standard nonprofit reporting practices.

Members understand that the Network does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice, and that the deductibility of any contribution is determined solely by the member’s individual financial circumstances and current tax regulations.

Member Responsibility & Disputes

Members are solely responsible for the services they provide or receive. The Exchange Network does not guarantee service quality, outcomes, or availability. Members agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve any disputes directly between themselves. If a resolution cannot be reached, either member may request assistance from the Haven for Healing Exchange Network by submitting a formal dispute request.

The requesting member agrees to contribute the required credits to the Network Credit Pool in consideration for administrative review, facilitation, and determination of the dispute. Upon review, the Network will assess the information provided and issue a decision.

Members acknowledge and agree that any decision rendered by the Network through this process is final and binding. By signing this Membership Agreement, members affirm their understanding of and agreement to this dispute resolution process.
