Feeling taken advantage of

There are moments in life when you pause and realize something doesn’t feel right, like you’ve been giving more than you’ve been receiving. Lately, I’ve felt taken advantage of. Not always in obvious ways, but in the subtle patterns: showing up, giving time, energy, care and noticing it isn’t always reciprocated. It’s a quiet kind of exhaustion, the kind that builds when your willingness to help becomes expected instead of appreciated.
It makes you reflect on boundaries where they were unclear, where you may have overextended, or where others may have leaned too heavily without realizing the cost to you. Feeling taken advantage of isn’t just about what others have done; it’s also about recognizing your own worth and honoring it. It’s a turning point, a moment to recalibrate, to choose balance over depletion.
And maybe that’s the lesson in it, learning to give without losing yourself, to care without carrying everything, and to remember that your time, your energy, and your presence are valuable.
