One of the strengths of Haven for Healing Exchange Network is that everyone has something valuable to offer.

Someone can be incredibly talented without formal education, while another person may have years of professional training. Both contribute meaningful value to the community, and both deserve recognition.

Below are examples of how the same type of service can be offered at different levels.

  • Cleaning

    • Tier 1: Someone enjoys cleaning homes for neighbors.

    • Tier 2: Experienced residential cleaner managing several clients.

    • Tier 3-4: Commercial cleaning company specializing in offices, medical facilities, or post-construction cleanup.

  • Child Care

    • Tier 1: Trusted babysitter with experience caring for family and neighbors.

    • Tier 2: Experienced nanny or daycare assistant.

    • Tier 3-5: Licensed childcare provider, early childhood educator, behavioral specialist, or pediatric therapist.

  • Pet Care

    • Tier 1: Pet sitting, dog walking, feeding animals while owners travel.

    • Tier 2: Experienced groomer or obedience trainer.

    • Tier 3-5: Certified dog trainer, veterinary technician, or specialized animal rehabilitation provider.

  • Technology

  • Automotive Repair

    • Tier 1- 2: A young man grows up helping his father, who is a certified mechanic. By age 19, he has learned how to change brakes, replace batteries, perform oil changes, diagnose simple problems, and complete basic repairs. Although he has no formal certification, he has years of practical experience and confidently offers basic mechanic services.

    • Tier 3-5: A licensed ASE-certified mechanic with years of experience diagnoses complex engine issues, performs transmission repairs, electrical diagnostics, hybrid vehicle repairs, or specializes in diesel or performance engines. Their advanced training and certifications place them at a higher tier.

  • Lawn Care & Landscaping

    • Tier 1-2: Someone genuinely enjoys mowing lawns, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, and helping elderly neighbors maintain their yards. They may not own commercial equipment, but they consistently provide dependable yard maintenance.

    • Tier 3-5: A licensed landscaping contractor designs irrigation systems, installs retaining walls, builds outdoor living spaces, manages drainage systems, and creates complete landscape designs using professional equipment and expertise.

  • Cooking & Meal Preparation

    • Tier 1 - 2: A person loves cooking for family and friends. They prepare homemade meals, bake bread, make freezer meals, or cook for new parents or recovering neighbors. They may not have formal culinary education but consistently prepare delicious meals.

    • Tier 3 -5: A trained chef, sous chef, caterer, pastry chef, or culinary graduate prepares specialty cuisine, large catered events, dietary-specific meal planning, or gourmet dining experiences requiring advanced culinary knowledge.

  • Home Repairs

    • Tier 1-2: Someone enjoys fixing things around the house. They can assemble furniture, repair a leaking faucet, install shelves, replace door handles, patch drywall, or complete other common household repairs learned through years of experience.

    • Tier 3-5: A licensed contractor, electrician, plumber, HVAC technician, or finish carpenter performs work requiring specialized knowledge, permits, advanced tools, building codes, or professional licensing.

  • Photography & Media

    • Tier 1-2: A hobby photographer enjoys taking family portraits, pet photos, graduation pictures, or community event photos using personal equipment and editing software.

    • Tier 3-5: A professional photographer or videographer provides commercial photography, wedding coverage, drone services, studio lighting, advanced editing, branding content, or documentary production backed by years of professional experience.

  • Tutoring & Education

    • Tier 1-2: A college student who excels in math enjoys helping neighborhood children with homework after school. A retired individual may also enjoy teaching reading, sewing, music, or basic computer skills through years of personal experience.

    • Tier 3-5: A certified teacher, licensed educator, professor, educational specialist, speech-language pathologist, or professional tutor provides structured instruction, curriculum development, specialized interventions, or advanced academic coaching.

The tier system is not a ranking of people it is simply a way to help members understand the level of experience and responsibility associated with a service so they can make informed choices.
